Solar power has moved from a niche for early adopters to an everyday decision for families, shop owners, institutions and farmers. If you live or work in the capital of Chhattisgarh, this guide to solar in Raipur gives you the complete picture in one place: why the city suits solar, which system to choose, what it costs, how much you save, which subsidies apply, how installation works and how to pick a company you can trust. It is written to educate first and sell second, so you can use it even if you never call us.
The short version: Raipur has strong sunshine, a supportive grid framework and generous subsidies for homes. A correctly sized system typically removes 70 to 90 per cent of your electricity bill and pays back in about three to four years. The details below show how to get there without costly mistakes.
Raipur sits at roughly 21 degrees north, in the heart of the Chhattisgarh plain. Daily solar irradiance averages around 5.0 to 5.5 kWh per square metre across about 300 clear days a year. In practice, one kilowatt of well-designed capacity produces about 4.0 to 4.5 units a day on average, or 1,400 to 1,500 units a year. That is more than comparable systems produce in many northern cities, which means a Raipur rooftop earns its cost back faster.
Output follows the seasons. Spring and the post-monsoon weeks are strongest, winter is surprisingly good because panels run more efficiently in cool air, and July and August dip under monsoon cloud. Our solar Raipur conditions guide explains the weather in detail.

Most Raipur homes are best served by on-grid. See solar battery and hybrid in Raipur if backup matters to you.
| System | Price before subsidy | Central subsidy | Net cost | Monthly saving |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 kW | Rs 1.2 - 1.4 lakh | Rs 60,000 | Rs 60,000 - 80,000 | Rs 1,600 - 2,000 |

| 5 kW | Rs 2.6 - 3.0 lakh | Rs 78,000 | Rs 1.8 - 2.2 lakh | Rs 4,000 - 5,000 |
| 10 kW | Rs 5.0 - 5.8 lakh | None above 3 kW | Rs 5.0 - 5.8 lakh | Rs 8,000 - 10,000 |
The Chhattisgarh state top-up, reported at up to Rs 30,000 for 3 kW and above, may lower your net cost further; confirm the current order with CSPDCL. The arithmetic behind these figures, including payback, is in our solar panel price in Raipur guide and in how to calculate solar payback.
The central subsidy under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is Rs 30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and Rs 18,000 for the third kW, capped at Rs 78,000. It is credited to your bank account after commissioning and inspection. Housing societies can claim Rs 18,000 per kW for common facilities. Collateral-free loans for systems up to 3 kW have been available through participating banks. Solar needs little care, not none. Wash the panels every two to four weeks in the dry season with soft brushes and clean water, check the inverter app weekly and arrange a yearly professional inspection of structure, earthing and surge protection. See solar maintenance in Raipur.
Hardware is close to a commodity; engineering, paperwork and service are not. Look for portal registration, named equipment, a written workmanship warranty, paperwork included and a local team that answers the phone after installation. A family of four in a three-bedroom home pays about Rs 3,200 a month and uses about 400 units, with two air conditioners in summer. A 3 kW on-grid system generates about 360 to 400 units a month on average. The family pays about Rs 1.8 lakh, receives Rs 78,000 after commissioning and ends up with a net cost of about Rs 1.0 lakh. The monthly bill falls to a few hundred rupees of fixed charges in most months, an annual saving of about Rs 29,000 to 36,000. Payback is about three years, and the system continues for another 20 or more.
The most common question about solar in Raipur is how much electricity a system really produces. These indicative figures per kilowatt show the yearly pattern; your shade, tilt, dust and equipment will move them.
| Month | Indicative units per kW per day | What affects it |
|---|---|---|
| January | About 4.0 - 4.3 | Cool panels, low sun angle, winter fog some mornings |
| February - March | About 4.7 - 5.0 | Long clear days; one of the best periods |
| April - May | About 4.6 - 5.0 | Very strong sun; heat reduces efficiency slightly |
| June | About 3.5 - 3.8 | Pre-monsoon cloud and dust |
| July - August | About 2.7 - 3.0 | Monsoon cloud; lowest output of the year |
| September | About 3.3 - 3.6 | Clearing skies |
| October - November | About 4.2 - 4.5 | Clean air after the rains, clear skies |
| December | About 3.9 - 4.2 | Cool, clear, shorter days |
Averaged over the year this gives roughly 4 to 4.5 units per kW per day, or about 1,400 to 1,500 units per kW a year. A 3 kW system therefore produces around 360 to 400 units a month on average, more in spring and less in the monsoon. See seasonal performance month by month for more detail.
| Monthly bill | Approx. units | Suggested system | Indicative price before subsidy | Central subsidy | Approx. net cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rs 1,500 | About 215 | 2 kW | Rs 1.0 - 1.4 lakh | Rs 60,000 | Rs 40,000 - 80,000 |
| Rs 2,500 | About 355 | 3 kW | Rs 1.4 - 1.9 lakh | Rs 78,000 | Rs 62,000 - 1.12 lakh |
| Rs 3,500 | About 500 | 4 - 4.5 kW | Rs 1.9 - 2.5 lakh | Rs 78,000 | Rs 1.1 - 1.7 lakh |
| Rs 5,000 | About 715 | 5 - 6 kW | Rs 2.2 - 3.4 lakh | Rs 78,000 | Rs 1.4 - 2.6 lakh |
These are illustrations using assumed tariffs of about Rs 7 per unit and indicative 2026 prices. Your tariff slab, roof and quotation decide the real numbers. A 3 kW system typically saves about Rs 2,500 to 3,000 a month; test your own bill in the savings calculator.

Indicatively Rs 1.4 to 1.9 lakh for a 3 kW home system and Rs 2.2 to 3.0 lakh for 5 kW before subsidy, depending on equipment and scope; a written quotation after a survey gives the final figure.
Eligible homes can receive up to Rs 30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and Rs 18,000 for the third kW under PM Surya Ghar, a maximum of Rs 78,000 for 3 kW and above.
Roughly 1,400 to 1,500 units per kW per year, about 4 to 4.5 units per kW per day on average, with lower output in July and August.
For bills above about Rs 1,500 a month, a 1.5 to 2 kW system usually pays back in a few years after subsidy; very small bills have longer payback.
One to three days on site and one to three months overall, including approvals, net meter and inspection.
Grid-tied systems shut down for safety in an outage; a hybrid system with a battery can keep selected circuits running.
Every three to four weeks in the dry season and after storms; rain helps in the monsoon but does not remove all dirt.

Yes. Raipur receives about 300 clear days a year, and a kilowatt of well-installed solar produces roughly 1,400 to 1,500 units annually. With the central subsidy, a typical home system pays for itself in about three to four years and then keeps generating for 25 years.
A quality 3 kW home system costs about Rs 1.65 to 1.90 lakh and a 5 kW system about Rs 2.6 to 3.0 lakh before subsidy. Commercial and industrial plants cost less per kW as capacity grows.
Most homes choose a grid-tied (on-grid) system with net metering because it is the cheapest and is eligible for the subsidy. Choose a hybrid system only if power cuts are frequent or long.
On site, three to five days. From order to commissioning, plan on one to three months for feasibility approval, net meter fitting and inspection.
You or your installer. Light cleaning every few weeks in the dry season and a yearly inspection are enough. An annual maintenance contract is available.
