A subsidy calculator on a website is just a few multiplications dressed up. Knowing the rules lets you do the sum yourself and check any figure an installer quotes. This guide works through solar subsidy calculations for Chhattisgarh for homes and housing societies, with tables from 1 kW to 10 kW and clear notes where figures should be verified.
Quick answer: central subsidy is Rs 30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and Rs 18,000 for the third kW, capped at Rs 78,000. Chhattisgarh has announced an additional top-up for domestic consumers; confirm current slabs with CSPDCL.
| System size | First 2 kW at Rs 30,000 | Third kW at Rs 18,000 | Central subsidy |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 kW | Rs 30,000 | - | Rs 30,000 |
| 2 kW | Rs 60,000 | - | Rs 60,000 |
| 3 kW | Rs 60,000 | Rs 18,000 | Rs 78,000 |
| 4 kW and above | Rs 60,000 | Rs 18,000 | Rs 78,000 (cap) |
| 10 kW | Rs 60,000 | Rs 18,000 | Rs 78,000 (cap) |
In 2025 the state cabinet approved an additional subsidy for domestic consumers. As reported at the time, it was Rs 15,000 for a 1 kW system and Rs 30,000 for 3 kW and above, with CSPDCL receiving the grant in advance and disbursing it to beneficiaries. Sources have quoted different slabs for 2 kW and for per-kW amounts, so verify the current order before you count on a figure.
| System size | Central | State top-up (as announced) | Combined |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 kW | Rs 30,000 | Rs 15,000 | Rs 45,000 |
| 2 kW | Rs 60,000 | Confirm with CSPDCL | Rs 60,000 plus state share |
| 3 kW and above | Rs 78,000 | Up to Rs 30,000 | Up to Rs 1,08,000 |
| System size | Indicative price | Net after central only | Net after central plus state (if applicable) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 kW | Rs 60,000 - 70,000 | Rs 30,000 - 40,000 | Rs 15,000 - 25,000 |
| 2 kW | Rs 1.2 - 1.4 lakh | Rs 60,000 - 80,000 | Depends on the state slab |
| 3 kW | Rs 1.65 - 1.90 lakh | Rs 87,000 - 1.12 lakh | Rs 57,000 - 82,000 |
| 5 kW | Rs 2.6 - 3.0 lakh | Rs 1.82 - 2.22 lakh | Rs 1.52 - 1.92 lakh |
Divide the net cost by the annual saving. A 3 kW home in Raipur saves about Rs 29,000 to 36,000 a year. Net cost of Rs 87,000 to 1.12 lakh gives about 2.4 to 3.9 years. With the state top-up, net cost of Rs 57,000 to 82,000 gives about 1.6 to 2.8 years. Read how to calculate solar payback in Raipur for the method and sensitivity.
The group housing society and RWA provision supports solar for common facilities, including EV charging, at Rs 18,000 per kW, up to 500 kW, with capacity counted at 3 kW per house.
| Society size | Max subsidised capacity at 3 kW per house | Subsidy at Rs 18,000 per kW |
|---|---|---|
| 10 flats | 30 kW | Up to Rs 5.4 lakh |
| 40 flats | 120 kW | Up to Rs 21.6 lakh |
| 170 flats and above | 500 kW (cap) | Up to Rs 90 lakh |
The actual subsidy depends on the capacity installed for common loads, which is usually far less than the maximum eligible. See solar for apartments and housing societies.

If an installer's figures differ from yours, ask where the difference comes from. Usually it is the unit value, the generation estimate or the state top-up assumption.
| Stage | Cash you pay | Cash you receive |
|---|---|---|
| Order | Advance to the installer | - |
| Delivery and installation | Instalments to the installer | - |
| Commissioning | Balance to the installer | - |
| After inspection | - | Central subsidy credited to your bank account |
| Via CSPDCL | - | State top-up where applicable |
If cash is tight, a collateral-free loan can bridge the period before the subsidy arrives. See solar loan and EMI in Chhattisgarh.
Scheme parameters can change. Check the amounts on the official portal, and ask CSPDCL for the current state order in writing. Keep a dated copy. If an installer quotes subsidy figures that differ from the official slabs, ask them to show the source. Reliable installers are happy to do so.
